We’re in this together, my friend! You are not alone. We don’t do what we want to do and we end up doing what we say we won’t. I don’t know about you, but I want to be so much more intentional and strategic in my marriage.

Daily Marriage Checklist

A checklist of things every husband and wife should consider every day…

Be prepared! Print this go-to list and hang it where you’ll see it.

1. Invest Strategically

¨  Invest in her long-term – Know her love language and make a strategic plan.

John 13:34 “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.”

2. Be a Student Not Just an Observer

¨  Be a student of her, not just an observer – No matter how she’s acted – ask yourself…

“What does she need RIGHT NOW?”

1 John 4:19-21 “We love because he first loved us.”

3. Look for Current Burdens

¨ What load is she carrying and how can you take off some of the weight?

Galatians 6:2 “Bear one another’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ.”

4. Don’t Guess – Ask

¨ Don’t try to be a mind-reader – ask her what’s on her heart.

Proverbs 18:13 “If one gives an answer before he hears, it is his folly and shame.”

5. Focus on Physically Desiring Your Spouse

¨   Mentally meditate on your spouse physically. They are still that person who gave themselves to you on your wedding day.  Remember that.  Dwell on the gift God has given you.

Proverbs 5:18 “Rejoice in the wife of your youth.”

6. Go to God First

¨   There is danger in making your spouse your first stop when problems arise – they are limited where God is not. When problems come up, go to God first.

2 Corinthians 10:5 “…taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.”

7. Stay Current with God

¨   Remind yourself of Who God is, Who you are in Him and Who your spouse is.

Psalm 119:1-3 “Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the Lord. Blessed are those who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart…”

8. No Matter How My Spouse Acts…

¨  God gave me the most when I deserved it the least . Therefore, I will fulfill my God-given role because that’s what Jesus did.  This is Grace, this is Love.

Galatians 6:9 “Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary.”

9. Pray with Your Spouse

¨  Pray with your spouse first – before all major decisions

1 Thessalonians 5:16-17 “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing…”

10. Be Thankful

¨  Think about one thing you are thankful for today in your spouse, in your marriage, or in your family and tell someone. Tell your God.

Philippians 4:8 “…whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable

—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”
