Bible for Marriage Part 11 – The Parables of Jesus

The Parables of Jesus for Marriage

How have Jesus’s teachings in the Gospels affected your life and marriage?

We’ll see today as we look at several parables that Jesus uses His teachings to redefine our preconceived ideas about life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

We’re born into this world and our instant instinct is to fight and struggle to survive. That’s a good thing when you’re a newborn and you need to cry to let your mom know you’re hungry. But along with that God-given instinct to survive is an inborn selfish nature that from day one in the hospital, we are preprogrammed to sinful selfishness.

In each of these parables today, we’re going see some very shortsighted people (just like us!) thinking they’re going to get something or get away with something by refusing the gift or invitation offered. (People make decisions, your spouse makes decisions, based upon what they believe it will do to their happy-o-meter).

Here are the 4 Parables of Jesus we’re going to look at in this broadcast:

Luke 14:16-24 – The Great Banquet

Matthew 25:14-30 – Three Servants Given Talents

Matthew 20:1-16 – Workers in the Vineyard

Matthew 24:45-51 – Wise and Wicked Servants
